The Lovely Grungers
These pics are from a collection of photography by Michael Lavine, called "Grunge", with a foreword by Thurston Moore.
THAT flannel shirt. It's weird how people develop an aura. I can't see Kurt Cobain's face without also seeing Daniel Johnston's "Hi, How are you?" t-shirt. Or flannel.
Super sweet grunge girls.
What a dirty pretty thing. This is Thursten Moore's fave pic from the collection.
I really love this photo. Steve Shelley is Harry Potter. I love Thurston Moore's aeroplane / big brother / little brother pose. There's so much tension and energy. And Kim Gordon. Just Kim Gordon.
Same with this one, the tension. They create this awesome space. These were taken in New York, they just walked from the photographers apartment through the city.

Oh, you are such an artiste! Love it. And love grunge. I saw a great collection of photographs in Paris, but I can't remember anything about it except that they were taken at this skatepark-come-decrepit house for homeless kids. And all the kids were all grungy and cool...Anyway. All this makes me want to shave bits of my head and wear flannel
ReplyDeleteAnother thing, I met a guy called Thurston when I was in Edinburgh who was Completely Insane. He was bipolar and thought that The Russians or someone (everyone?) was out to get him and walked around in disguise sometimes. He wanted to take all the girls on a picnic and he made me a cool birthday card. One of the most strange and interesting people I have ever met.
