Just a shape dancing in front of me in the scorching air

THE OUTSIDER by ALBERT CAMUS

I'm not so good at 'book reviews' as such, but I would like to share this book! A friend at work recommended it to me and I would like to recommend it to anyone who reads this (Jess?)! Um, what can I say? Just read it. It's short, so if you don't like it, it won't be too much of a waste of time...(this was my friend's selling point)...but you will like it.

I took these photos in the surrounding hills of dear old Naseby...very inspiring scenery. The imagery in this book sometimes reminded me of the stifling silence and heat you get there in summer.

"All I could feel were the cymbals the sun was clashing against my forehead and, indistinctly, the dazzling spear still leaping up off the knife in front of me. It was like a red-hot blade gnawing at my eyelashes and gouging out my stinging eyes. That was when everything shook. The sea swept ashore a great breath of fire. The sky seemed to be splitting from end to end and raining down sheets of flame."

Just a taste...

Oh, AND...I was listening to the Cure the other day and realised that "Killing an Arab" is actually about this book. The scene I have quoted from as a matter of fact. That was the conclusion I came to listening to the lyrics anyway...if I'm wrong I'll eat my beret.

Look at his little face. Must do a post on Robert and his hair...

  2. Oh Alex! I say! Super sleuth! Rather. Quite the existentialist orgy.
