Autumn Fires

In the other gardens
And all up the vale,
From the autumn bonfires
See the smoke trail!

Pleasant summer over
And all the summer flowers,
The red fire blazes,
The gray smoke towers.

Sing a song of seasons!
Something bright in all!
Flowers in the summer,
Fires in the fall!

Robert Louis Stevenson (from A Child’s Garden of Verses, 1913)

These are photos from a walk a couple of days ago through the pretty suburb of Belleknowes. It was a dull, overcast day but there were so many gorgeous colours around. And a wicked letterbox!

(Actually I am pretty obsessed with both of her albums "Fur and Gold" and "Two Suns" right now...)

  1. ... when poetry is combined with ill-groomed hair and eccentric dress, it's generally fatal. You're very lucky Elfine, he must have seen your finer points.

  3. Preferably in a flowing gown, skipping through meadows. Not green though. I find dull greens very trying
